It all begins in NYC, when Maha reconnects with her childhood friend whose enduring love of fine food and keen sense of taste has but one flaw... dark chocolat doesn't tickle her fancy.

After much prodding, Maha convinces her dark chocolate-averse friend to sample a piece. After savoring her chocolate, her friend suggests the idea of Maha Chocolate.

Exposed to her mother's culinary skills since childhood and to gourmet cuisines in different parts of the world, Maha chooses to share her family tradition of homemade chocolate.

Today MAHA CHOCOLATE partners with Hot Bread Kitchen in Manhattan to make artisanal chocolate. The kitchen provides an intensive, paid on-the-job program for women facing economic insecurity.
